Δεκαοχτώ χρόνια συμπληρώθηκαν από την ημέρα που άλλαξε τον κόσμο, όταν τρία αεροσκάφη καρφώθηκαν στους Δίδυμους Πύργους στη Νέα Υόρκη και στο αμερικανικό Πεντάγωνο, σκορπίζοντας τον θάνατο.
Κατά τις τρομοκρατικές επιθέσεις της 11ης Σεπτεμβρίου 2001, 2.996 άνθρωποι έχασαν τη ζωή τους και πάνω από 6.000 τραυματίστηκαν.
Με αφορμή την επέτειο, το αμερικανικό υπουργείο Αμυνας έδωσε στη δημοσιότητα μια σειρά εξαιρετικά σπάνιων φωτογραφιών από το εσωτερικών των πύργων, του Πενταγώνου, από τη στιγμή που ο Τζορτζ Μπους, τότε Πρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ, μαθαίνει για την επίθεση.

Λίγη ώρα αργότερα ήρθε η κατάρρευση των Διδύμων Πύργων, με τους Νεοϋορκέζους, που μέχρι τότε χάζευαν το αλλόκοτο θέαμα των αεροπλάνων καρφωμένων στους Πύργους, να τρέχουν έντρομοι να σωθούν.
